As summer quickly approaches, we have been itching to pull out our summer makeup arsenal – you know, shimmery bronzer, coral blush, bright lipsticks and stains! And as we readied our makeup tables and minds for the summertime sun, we decided it would be fun ask our writers which makeup product they can’t live without when they head to the beach! Here are the results for our writers’ favorite beach-ready beauty item!
In short, tinted Sunscreen, TINTED SUNSCREEN and TINTED SUNSCREEN!
That’s right, almost exclusively, all of our stylists named tinted sunscreen as the number one item they cannot live without when they go to the beach.
“With so much information out there about the importance of sunscreen for anti-aging and overall skin health, it really comes as no surprise that women are taking sun protection very seriously. Now we can take advantage of this information because makeup companies are offering more full coverage tinted sunscreen and makeup options with a high enough SPF to wear to the beach so that we can feel protected and safe, while still looking fabulous.”
The Must-Have Beauty Item for the Beach
TINTED SUNSCREEN
OUR TOP PICKS
Clarins UV Plus Ant-Pollution Sunscreen Multi-Protection Tint SPF 50, $45; sephora.com
A lightweight tinted sunscreen with excellent coverage! This is the perfect beauty item for the beach when you have to wear a sunscreen with a high SPF, but don’t want to lose your tan by rubbing on that goopy bright white cream sunscreen (you know exactly what I’m talking about).
Stylist Pick Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45, $39; sephora.com
This is a beauty balm, so it’s a bit heavier than the Clarins tinted sunscreen, but the anti-aging benefits, staying power and high SPF greatly outweigh the drawback of wearing a heavier product.
PETER THOMAS ROTH Max Mineral Naked Broad Spectrum SPF 45, $48; sephora.com
This lightly tinted, all-mineral sunscreen is the perfect addition to a beach kit. It is made to look good under makeup, so it doesn’t create a pale, white layer as a lot of mineral sunscreens do. And it includes vitamins A, C and E for antioxidant protection and skin nourishing benefits.
So, the general consensus seems to be that tinted sunscreen is something we cannot go without on a trip to the beach. Does this surprise you?
