I have learned that a scent can elicit a powerful memory; memories of sadness, joy, elation, and even people or specific points in time. The strength of individual scents to help call upon a memory is so profound that you can actually feel the emotions provoked by that fragrance. And this sensation is often referred to as scent memory.
Knowing the power of such a seemingly small thing, I have implemented this into my travel experiences to help remember special vacations and trips. I wear a different fragrance on each individual vacation I take to help recall the memories of these special times. And who doesn’t like a reason to buy new perfume? After each vacation, I put the perfume away with a tag that denotes the trip to which it belongs. Then, when I want to remember the trip and the way I felt when I was there, I pull out a bottle of that journey’s scent and experience the vacation all over again.

CREATE A SCENT SCRAPBOOK
Recreate forgettable memories. Using an old journal, run a tiny line of glue at the top of each page and attach a rectangular piece of clear laminate paper over the glue (only the top edge of the paper will be glued in the journal).
